Here is a re-post of the Bad News and Plastic Culture EPs by Hit Parade. The downloads are in FLAC or 320kbps mp3 format so just grab whichever one you want.
Hit Parade was Dave Hyndman from Belfast, with occassional assistance by members of Crass on backing vocals but mostly it was Dave. The Bad News EP was released in 1983 on Crass Records and rather than guitars, bass and drums it uses drum boxes and samplers. There is also a second EP, Plastic Culture which was released in 1984 that contains extended versions of a couple of tracks. In fact Media Song is basically an extended version/remix of Bad News from the first EP.
(text from Southern Records)
This record exposes the tyranny of the British Government's attacks on Northern Ireland. Borrowing from Outta Control: Paper of the Belfast Anarchists, the record sleeve/poster details the atrocities of prisons in which "political criminals" are locked up for speaking out against the unjust, violent sectarian state which has long ignored outcries from its inhabitants. The sleeve/poster pictures those who died in peaceful demonstrations and hunger strikes, specifically, the "H Block" hunger strike. "Britains role in Northern Ireland, both on the streets and in legislative methods is clearly repressive and designed to keep in check a rebellious section of the population...which seeks to take control of and responsibility for its own future.

Here's an excellent little dubstep mix by DJ Hoolio. I met Hoolio a few weeks back & as well as being a proficient DJ he is also a producer & engineer, running his own studio. He also runs drumstepuk.com, a web based radio station for all the bass-heads out there. As well as streaming non-stop Drum & Bass, Dub Step & House there is also live DJ sets most evenings. You can either listen on-line or use the free app so go check it out now.
In the meantime you can download or stream the mix below...
This is another two disc download but this time it's a collection of tracks by reggae genius Bob Marley. The first disc contains a selection of remixes from a number of artists, including bands like Cypress Hill, Sheep On Drugs and Astralasia. The second disc is made up of the original versions of the tracks on disc one and there's even a few bonus songs thrown in for good measure. You can't really go far wrong with a bit of Bob Marley but it's also good to hear some different versions.

This is a compilation of various 'electronica' artists. It was originally released as the soundtrack to the game Wipeout XL 2097. There's a good selection of different artists of the genre, including Orbital, Leftfield, Chemical Brothers & The Future Sound Of London. The only reason I dug this CD out was because after the Sony PS3 Network was hacked they gave out a selection of free games and the new version of Wipeout was included in your choices. Anyway it's got some good stuff on it :)
Here's the tracklisting (320kbps)...
01) We Have Explosive [The Future Sound Of London]
02) Atom Bomb [Fluke]
03) Loops Of Fury [The Chemical Brothers]
04) Tin There [Underworld]
05) The Third Sequence [Photek]
06) Leave Home (Underworld Mix One) [The Chemical Brothers]
07) We Have Explosive (Herd Killing Mix) [The Future Sound Of London]
08) Firestarter (Instrumental) [The Prodigy]
09) V Six [Fluke]
10) Musique [Daft Punk]
11) 2097 [Source Direct]
12) Titan [Photek]
13) P.E.T.R.O.L [Orbital]
14) Afro Ride [Leftfield]
Time to chill things out a bit so here's a mix of some ambient music I did a little while back. It runs for just under 80 minutes and contains very few actual beats so it's pretty chilled. There's a number of different artists included though there's quite a few tracks from the Aphex Twin, but that's only because he's a favourite of mine (now there's a shocker ;)
You won't be playing this in the middle of a party but come six in the morning when the drugs are wearing off and Captain Comedown is gibbering in your ear then let this mix take you gently into unconsciousness. For me this is a nice little journey down memory lane to all the chill out rooms when the 'rave' era was in full flow :)

This download is a live show by Leftfield that was recorded at The Homelands Festival on the 27th May 2000. The copy was taken from a radio broadcast so the quality is excellent for a live show. Both of their albums are well represented with half the tracks from their first album Leftism and the rest from the second album, Rhythm & Stealth.
Leftfield are a British duo of electronica artists and record producers, namely Paul Daley (formerly of The Rivals, A Man Called Adam and the Brand New Heavies) and Neil Barnes, who formed in 1990 in London, England.
Here's the tracklisting (192kbps)... 01) Dub Gussett 02) Double Flash 03) Chant Of A Poor Man 04) Black Flute 05) Storm 3000 06) Inspection (Check One) 07) Africa Shox 08) Song Of Life 09) Phat Planet

Hit Parade was Dave Hyndman from Belfast, with occassional assistance by members of Crass on backing vocals but mostly it was Dave. This EP was released in 1982 on Crass Records & rather than guitars, bass & drums it is anarcho-dance!?!, using drum boxes & samplers. I've also included a rip of the Plastic Culture 12" EP, which was released in 84.

I got a request to post up some Eat Static so here it is.
Eat Static is an electronic music project from Somerset, England formed in 1989 by Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton. They met as drummer and keyboard player (respectively) for the Ozric Tentacles, a long-standing psychedelic space rock band from Somerset. Although Ozric Tentacles incorporated elements of electronic music, Pepler and Hinton were drawn towards the rave oriented dance music. In 1988 they collaborated on a project under the name of Wooden Baby which hinted at early rave and techno sounds as well as numerous other styles, and by 1990, the project had evolved in to Eat Static. They've covered most of the different rave genres, from psychedelic trance to drum & bass and the latest album (Back To Earth) has a definite latin feel to it.

Well it was just a matter of time... here's a collection of some of the tunes I've written. I'm not really sure how to class it, there's some drum & bass, a couple of techno tracks and some other dance/electronica songs. A bit like The Prodigy, Orbital, stuff like that. Whatever it is, all the tracks are by me from around 2000/2001. Normally Im not that bothered about you leaving comments (tho' I'd rather you did :) but after listening to this I would really appreciate any comments you can give me :)
I'm an old hippy at heart and I have a definite soft spot for the music of Steve Hillage. As well as playing in bands like Gong, Khan & Arzachel he also released many albums as a solo artist. Not only all that (and also his production work) he and Miquette Giraudy also started up System 7, a dance/electronica group similar in vein to The Orb & Eat Static but with his own style. This is a collection of some of my favourite System 7 tracks. They have a new(ish) album out which you should go and buy :)

Well I've just got back from a week's holiday in Shropshire and whilst I was away I met an old friend of mine in Ludlow (Hi Marc & Cath). We were chatting and he made a request for an album so here it is. It's a classic electronica punk album by Suicide from 1977. Suicide were comprised of Alan Vega on vocals and Martin Rev on synthesizers.
