Ernest's Adventures In Space

I had a dream about Hawkwind the other night (nothing sexual you'll be glad to hear) so I decided to put together a new collection/mix of space rock. Most of the tracks are fairly recent but there's some older stuff as well (Monkey 3, Porcupine Tree). Most of the songs aren't straight up space rock but they have more of a stoner'ish feel, think bands like 35007. It's all pretty cosmic though so I hope you enjoy it. I've mixed the tracks together and it should fit onto a blank CD.

DJ Embryo - Live Set (drumstepuk.com)

There's no download link this week but I will be playing a live drum & bass set tonight on drumstepuk.com. I'm not entirely sure what time I will be playing but it'll probably be around 7.00 and I reckon I'll be doing 2 hours. There will be a reggae set beforehand starting at 6pm from DJ Switch (a good friend of mine) and I will be followed by Hoolio who will be playing drum & bass and dubstep etc.

DJ Embryo - King Dub Mix

Here's a new jungle mix I did recently. It's got a couple of exclusive tracks on it so shout outs to Silicon Drum for the superb King Dub track and to my young protege DJ Blits for letting me remix his Come Into My Room track. I did this mix using vinyl and Audacity, a free audio editor. There's a few recent tunes included on the mix but mostly it's some old favourites. Mainly because I can't get hold of the vinyl so I had to download them. Unfortunately that does mean that some of the tracks aren't perfect quality (there's even a couple of youtube downloads) but nothing major. Anyway download it and enjoy.

Here's a new drum & bass/jungle mix for your halloween pleasure though it hasn't actually got much to do with Halloween except for the Ghost Town theme ;) It's mainly new tunes but I've included a few old classics as well. The actual mix took me about 4 attempts to get it right but I'm pretty happy with the end result (some of the levels could be better but that can't be helped :). Here's a drum & bass / jungle mix I did in July that has a selection of old and new stuff. It's got a couple of 'iffy' mixes on it but nothing major so don't worry ;) I should say thanks to Hard To Find Records as they gave me a couple of free tunes. Only because they sent me an incorrect 12" (right cover, wrong vinyl) but their customer service was excellent and they sent me the right tune and told me to keep the original one they sent and refunded the original cost so check 'em out. Here's a 2 disc DJ mix that should help with your new year's eve celebrations. The first disc is my latest drum & bass / soundclash mix with a selection of my new tunes. The second disc has a few different genres starting with 20ish minutes of cutting and scratching over some classic hip hop and electro beats. It then shifts into some breakbeat and classic drum & bass before finishing up with some more turntablism over a few laid back Ninja Tunes. Disc 2 wasn't done as a 'live' set as I spliced together the different sections using Audacity (though each section is a live mix but I don't suppose you care really :).

DJ Embryo - Ambient Journey Mix

Time to chill things out a bit so here's a mix of some ambient music I did a little while back. It runs for just under 80 minutes and contains very few actual beats so it's pretty chilled. There's a number of different artists included though there's quite a few tracks from the Aphex Twin, but that's only because he's a favourite of mine (now there's a shocker ;)

You won't be playing this in the middle of a party but come six in the morning when the drugs are wearing off and Captain Comedown is gibbering in your ear then let this mix take you gently into unconsciousness. For me this is a nice little journey down memory lane to all the chill out rooms when the 'rave' era was in full flow :)

The ABC Of Anarchy

This is a compilation of anarcho punk bands I made recently. I did have a nice idea for the track list but it all went a bit tits up at the letter Q so I've had to use a little artistic license ;) This is actually all mixed together into one big mp3 file. Unfortunately I couldn't use my decks as I don't have all the vinyl so it was done on my laptop using Audacity, a free audio editor. It goes on for around an hour and I've included some covers if you want to burn yourself a copy.

Here's another mix that I did the other day. This one is pretty much a 'junglist' mix, heavily tinged with reggae breaks and pounding bass & rhythms. It has some absolute classics from the genre and it may be my favourite/best mix I've ever done (even if I do say so myself :) The Prodigy track is a bit out of place but I bought the vinyl the other day and it's a excellent version so I started the mix with it. It's nearly an hour long and there are CD covers included in the download. I wouldn't normally do this but this mix is highly recommended ;) so download it now.

I did this mix about a week ago so I thought I may as well post it up. It start's out with a bit of breakbeat but it's really a drum & bass mix. Some of these tunes were actually mixed from my mp3 player which is a first for me. Well it was just a matter of time... here's a collection of some of the tunes I've written. I'm not really sure how to class it, there's some drum & bass, a couple of techno tracks and some other dance/electronica songs. A bit like The Prodigy, Orbital, stuff like that.
