Here's another album from Here & Now. This was requested after I posted the live show so here's Fantasy Shift which was released in 1980. Here & Now are an English space rock band formed in early 1974. They have close connections with the band Gong & in 1977/1978 worked with Gong's Daevid Allen & Gilli Smyth under the name Planet Gong.
The lineup for this release is...
Keith The Bass - Bass Guitar/Vocals
Gavin DaBlitz - Synthesizers/Vocals
Dino Ferrari - Guitars/Vocals
Rob Peters - Drums/Percussion

Oh WOW!! So many thanks for this! I've never met you but i love you! It's great to listen to it again...Now all i need is All Over The Show...
ReplyDeleteLOL glad to be of service :) Unfortunately I can't help with 'All Over The Show' but I'll see if I can find it.
ReplyDeleteYour posting some fantastic stuff on here.....its much appreciated ! Thanks
ReplyDeleteCheers very muchly indeed.I built a 'Frankencopy' of this out of battered old youtube clips, soulseek partials and some chewy stuff from behind the fridge.Just seen it on Amazon so I'll buy it anyway along with 'All Over The Show' and 'UFOasis'.Then my collection will be complete and with just a mere set of Here and Now CDs (and some Ullulators tapes of course) I'll destroy the corporate world forever...Muhaaaahhhaaaaahhhhhaaa
ReplyDeletemmmmm... chewy stuff behind the fridge ;)
ReplyDeletenice work on getting the full collection... the corporate world must die !!!
WOW! Like Darenn, I've been searching for this one for ages - I rushed out and got one of the very rare vinyls when it came out, but haven't been able to play it for years. A little information and a correction: "They finally released “Fantasy Shift” in April 1983 [Dino Ferrari had replaced Steffie in 1981] on Chick Records, a label run by the owner of the studios where the album was recorded. With a tour lined up to coincide with the release, the first pressing of 3,000 records soon sold out. However, the label refused to run a second pressing as they felt it would be too risky."
ReplyDeleteSo thanks for this, best Christmas present in years! Such kindness should be rewarded. Someone asked for "All Over The Show", which Penguin has been kind enough to up as a vinyl rip here:
http://killyourpetpuppy.co.uk/news/?p=4866
I have included in the comments to Penguin's post Here & Now's 1978 Peel session which features two unreleased improvisations.
Amnd to complete the Here & Now collections, we only need the 1978 live LP by Alternative TV/Here & Now "What You See Is What You Are", which roy has been kind enough to up as a vinyl rip @ 320 here:

"All Over The Show" and "Give And Take" have just been remastered and re-released -

Nice one, thanks man :)
ReplyDelete... and glad to help with the Fantasy Shift album
Thanks a trillion for this-my vinyl copy was "borrowed" sometime back in the eighties and i never saw it again! Thanks to Dave Sez too for all his help and advice :)
ReplyDeleteOh my Lord, hearing this album again for the first time in a long while it's even more obvious to me that this is as near perfect an album as they could've made;I was about to say that if they hadn't operated outside the mainstream and instead "played the game",this album would've made them huge, but if they had gone down that route they would never have written "Fantasy Shift".And anyway they are "huge",for want of a less naff phrase. And they may release new material yet.Lets hope so.
ReplyDeletethis was a favorite for me and my mates in our younger days thanks for the post
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for puttig this up. I have been searching for literally years. I "taped" it from a friend who had the vinyl back in the early 90's, and lost the tape years ago. Awesome dude, i am so happy!
ReplyDeleteGlad to be of service :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, where did you get it? Wish they would remaster this one as well as "Theatre", if you ever get a "Theatre" let me know at marvityn@yahoo.co.uk , a true gem of an album, now I can relive all those memories, and have a "Fantasy Shift", thanks again, respect, MARViTYN A*TASHE~DEMOON.

ReplyDelete@tcarted: Thanks man, I'll grab myself a copy of that.
Know your Conjurer has been killed by the man as has Megaupload. Please does anyone have the Planet Gong gig from Guitars 101?
DeleteCheers
Dave
damn, another one bites the dust.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the 'Guitars 101' gig so I don't think I can help. Sorry.
Thank you very much for the H&N. Very much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThere is only you and KYPP with H&N, Sugar Megs is back with a good selection of WMA files.
What torrents there were with H&N seem to have died as well.
Very sad really.
Glad to help. Not sure where else to go for H&N... especially since Dave-Sez's mega-post has gone :(
ReplyDeleteHi, I`ve just read Your info about new file hosting. Can You upload it there?
ReplyDeleteHi Pawel, Sorry for the delay in responding but I'll do this as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteLinks should be working OK now.
DeleteHi there. Anyone still have a copy of the 1978 Peel session that was re-broadcast on BBC Music (The Live Music Hour Broadcast Sun 5 Dec 2010 04:00). If so, a link would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin.
ReplyDeleteSaw Here & Now at Alchemy Festvals 2011 & 2012 and they were amazing!
Thank you so much! I only have this on worn out tape, and have been after a download for years - it's a real reminder of my student daze in the 80's! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this - I've been searching on and off for a while . This album takes me back a little bit!
ReplyDeleteAny chance you put put a link up to download :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers
