This is a collection of music by the Butthole Surfers. They've covered a wide spectrum of musical styles from the standard alternative rock, sounding like R.E.M. right through to the bizarre and experimental, sounding like... well... only The Buttholes really and that is something you have to admire and respect. This best of will give you a bit of all their different sounds so there should definitely be something you like. It will all fit nicely onto a CD and I've included some covers if you want to burn yourself a copy.
(following text from wikipedia) The Butthole Surfers are an American alternative / punk / experimental / drug crazed rock band formed by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary in San Antonio, Texas in 1981. The band has had numerous personnel changes, but the core lineup of Haynes, Leary, and drummer King Coffey has been together since 1983.
The Buttholes are best known for their chaotic and disturbing live shows, black humor, a sound that incorporates elements of punk rock, psychedelia, heavy metal, noise rock, and electronica, as well as their use of sound manipulation and tape editing. The Buttholes have a well-reported appetite for recreational drugs, particularly psychedelics, an evident influence on their sound.

I got a request to post up some Eat Static so here it is.
Eat Static is an electronic music project from Somerset, England formed in 1989 by Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton. They met as drummer and keyboard player (respectively) for the Ozric Tentacles, a long-standing psychedelic space rock band from Somerset. Although Ozric Tentacles incorporated elements of electronic music, Pepler and Hinton were drawn towards the rave oriented dance music. In 1988 they collaborated on a project under the name of Wooden Baby which hinted at early rave and techno sounds as well as numerous other styles, and by 1990, the project had evolved in to Eat Static. They've covered most of the different rave genres, from psychedelic trance to drum & bass and the latest album (Back To Earth) has a definite latin feel to it.

Here's the second part of the post-hardcore/screamo collection that I posted the other day. Again none of these bands are household names so if they're putting on a gig you should go along and support them if you can.
I've only done a few songs from each band so if you like them go and buy the CD. There's a few different bitrates but nothing less than 192kbps. Actually you can find more by Tortuga, Dead Swans & The Plight on this blog already.
DEAD SWANS Thinking Of You (from It's Starting EP) 20/07/07 (from Southern Blue EP) Ascension / Ivy Archway (from Sleepwalkers)
THE GHOST OF A THOUSAND Left For Dead/One For The Road (from This Is Where The Fight Begins) Canyons Of Static/Running On Empty (New Hopes, New Demonstrations)
THE PLIGHT Ball & Chain (from Black Summer EP) From Hell / Lovesick Maniac / Winds Of Osiris (from Winds Of Osiris)

TORTUGA Bury Me In You (Fatal) / The Laudanum Boys Club / The Tomb Of John Wortley (from Kings Of Albany)
This is the first part of a collection of some of the post-hardcore / screamo bands that I've found myself listening to. None of these bands are household names (except maybe Gallows who are getting there) so if they're putting on a gig you should go along and support them if you can.
I've only done a few songs from each band so if you like them go and buy the CD. There's a few different bitrates but nothing less than 192kbps.

Five Horse Johnson are a five piece blues/southern rock band from Ohio in the US. They play a combination of standard blues & southern rock with a little stoner style thrown in for good measure. They're not breaking any new musical boundaries but if you like some good stomping blues rock then you should definitely give them a listen.

Well it was just a matter of time... here's a collection of some of the tunes I've written. I'm not really sure how to class it, there's some drum & bass, a couple of techno tracks and some other dance/electronica songs. A bit like The Prodigy, Orbital, stuff like that. Whatever it is, all the tracks are by me from around 2000/2001. Normally Im not that bothered about you leaving comments (tho' I'd rather you did :) but after listening to this I would really appreciate any comments you can give me :)
I'm an old hippy at heart and I have a definite soft spot for the music of Steve Hillage. As well as playing in bands like Gong, Khan & Arzachel he also released many albums as a solo artist. Not only all that (and also his production work) he and Miquette Giraudy also started up System 7, a dance/electronica group similar in vein to The Orb & Eat Static but with his own style. This is a collection of some of my favourite System 7 tracks. They have a new(ish) album out which you should go and buy :)
