Afro Beat/Funk Collection (GTA IV)

This is another compilation that I took from a radio station (IF99) on Grand Theft Auto IV. This one is a collection of afro-beat artists and once again this download is the full tracks rather than the actual game version. This has tracks from all the main 'afro-beat' artists including Manu Dibango, Fela Kuti & Femi Kuti and it's interspersed with some of the more 'standard' funk artists. Not all the tracks are classics but all in all it's an excellent compilation.

Jazz/Funk Fusion Collection (GTA IV)

Here's a collection of jazz fusion tracks. I actually got the track listing from a radio station on Grand Theft Auto IV (Fusion FM) but this has the complete tracks (with none of the Fusion FM adverts etc.). If you don't know the originals then you'll probably recognise them as they've been sampled by bands like Massive Attack & Dr Dre. I got track 8 from the GTA IV soundtrack but I've done some editing and removed the DJ talkover.

Latin Jazz Collection (GTA Radio)

Time for some latin flavour so here's a selection of tracks that was originally a radio station on the game Grand Theft Auto - Vice City. There's some real funky stuff on here but it's nicely interspersed with some more 'classic' latin sounds. To be honest with you I probably would have never listened to these tracks if it wasn't for the game so remember kids, video games can also be educational as well as fun ;)


This is definitely best listened to when you're chillin' in the sunshine with a few friends, a few drinks and a few hours to kill.

King Crimson

Here's a nice little collection of songs from masters of prog, King Crimson. King Crimson were originally formed in London, England in 1969. Although they are often categorised as one of the founders of prog rock (rightly so), the band have also incorporated many diverse influences and instrumentation during its history (including jazz & folk music, classical & experimental music, psychedelic rock, hard rock & heavy metal, new wave, etc. etc.).

The Mahavishnu Orchestra

Here's a selection of tunes from jazz rock masters, the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Led by guitar maestro John McLaughlin they first formed in 1971 and split up in 1976. The band's original lineup featured "Mahavishnu" John McLaughlin on acoustic and electric guitars, with members Billy Cobham on drums, Rick Laird on bass guitar, Jan Hammer on electric and acoustic piano and synthesizer, and Jerry Goodman on violin. Jean-Luc Ponty was actually McLaughlin's first choice for violinist, but the idea was stalled by "immigration problems". He did later play with the band on the albums Apocalypse and Visions Of The Emerald Beyond.
