Seeing as it's that time of year again here's a collection of tracks to help with your halloween. There are a few movie theme songs which you should recognise as well as a few other tracks from all sorts of different artists. I actually put this together for a friend of mine when they were putting on a halloween party for their kids but it's better than your normal halloween collections so I thought I'd post it up here. It's even mixed with suitably scary interludes between the tracks, giving you a full dose of ghoulish glee :). I've got some of the artist names down as 'soundtrack' but I'll leave it up to you to find the real artists if you want to (I couldn't be bothered ;).

Keeping with my recent postings of live shows this download is a show by Bad Brains that was recorded at CBGB's on the 26th December 1981. Bad Brains are a hardcore punk band from the United States formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977. They are widely regarded as among the pioneers of hardcore punk but they are also an adept reggae band.

Here's another live show from Black Flag. It was recorded in 1984 and features mostly tracks from the My War and Slip It In albums. The show was recorded at the Stone nightclub in San Francisco, CA. Black Flag was an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. The band was established largely as the brainchild of Greg Ginn: the guitarist, primary songwriter and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes. They are widely considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands.

This is probably my favourite Black Flag album. It is a live recording of a show played at the Starry Night in Portland, Oregon, on August 23, 1985.

This live show was also released as a bootleg called Catastrophe but was missing a few tracks from the show. The download here has the complete gig from the bootleg. There was also another four songs on Catastrophe which were recorded at The Musicians Collective in Camden on June 7 1982. It's not the greatest quality in the world but that's partly because it's a live 'crowd' recording and partly because it's Rudimentary Peni ;)

Here's yet another live show from Rudimentary Peni. This one was recorded at the Ludwick Hall in Welwyn Garden City on the 28th of May 1982.
Rudimentary Peni emerged from the British anarcho punk scene in the early eighties as one of the most novel and recognizable acts of the era. Lead singer/guitarist Nick Blinko is notorious for his witty macabre lyrics and dark pen-and-ink artwork, prominently featured on all of Rudimentary Peni's albums.

Here's a live show from Rudimentary Peni. This was recorded at The Moonlight Club in London on the 11th of September 1982. I'm going to be posting up a few more Rudimentary Peni live shows in the next few days so if you want them don't forget to come back.
In Maximum RocknRoll, issue #237 (February 2003), the bassist Grant Matthews explains how he came up with the name of the band: "When I was at school studying biology, we were told that in the fetal stage the clitoris is a rudimentary penis." (text taken from Wikipedia)
