Krautrock Collection

This download is a selection of krautrock and 'trancerock'... but to be honest I'm not entirely sure what genre this should be. Basically most of these tracks are long and repetitive, hopefully causing a euphoric trance-like state rather than inducing a stroke or coma ;) It goes on for just under 80 minutes so it will fit onto a CD.

Krautrock is a generic name for the experimental music scene that appeared in Germany in the late 1960s and gained popularity throughout the 1970s, especially in Britain. BBC DJ John Peel in particular is largely credited with spreading the reputation of krautrock outside of the German-speaking world. The book Krautrocksampler by Julian Cope describes the underground music scene in Germany from 1968 through the 1970s and is well worth a read if you like this stuff.
