Five Horse Johnson

Five Horse Johnson are a five piece blues/southern rock band from Ohio in the US. They play a combination of standard blues & southern rock with a little stoner style thrown in for good measure. They're not breaking any new musical boundaries but if you like some good stomping blues rock then you should definitely give them a listen.

Well it was just a matter of time... here's a collection of some of the tunes I've written. I'm not really sure how to class it, there's some drum & bass, a couple of techno tracks and some other dance/electronica songs. A bit like The Prodigy, Orbital, stuff like that. Whatever it is, all the tracks are by me from around 2000/2001. I'm an old hippy at heart and I have a definite soft spot for the music of Steve Hillage. As well as playing in bands like Gong, Khan & Arzachel he also released many albums as a solo artist. Not only all that (and also his production work) he and Miquette Giraudy also started up System 7, a dance/electronica group similar in vein to The Orb & Eat Static but with his own style. This is a collection of some of my favourite System 7 tracks. They have a new(ish) album out which you should go and buy :)

Seeing as it's halloween I thought Id post up some zombie-core. Send More Paramedics were a horror hardcore/thrash band from Leeds in the UK.

Unfortunately they split in 2007 but they released 3 full albums and a couple of split LPs whilst they were together.

Punk Collection (1977 & 1978)

Here's a selection of some early punk songs, well I'm pretty sure all these were released in either 1977 or 1978 so that's pretty early. I've deliberately avoided putting on any tracks by the bigger bands, such as the Sex Pistols or The Clash because you've already heard them so this concentrates on the lesser known acts from that era. Great bands like Swell Maps with their trashy style, X-Ray Spex with Poly Styrene screeching lyrics about consumerism and media control 20 years before it became fashionable and then there's the 'working class, council estate street' punk from the likes of Slaughter & The Dogs & Menace. Hope you enjoy it :)

Most of the tracks are in 320kbps mp3 format but there are some that are 256 or 192kbps. I've split the download into two parts, tracks 1 to 20 in part 1 and the rest in part 2. Each part is around 100MB in size.

Ian Dury Interview

Dead Swans

Formed in Brighton in 2006, Dead Swans have been making a name throughout the UK and Europe with a ferocious blend of hardcore that takes the musical influence from turn of the century Boston hardcore like American Nightmare and Right Brigade.
