Following on from yesterdays post here is the second release by The Offenders. During the early to mid 80s US hardcore explosion this Austin group was well known not only in Texas but also abroad recording 2 albums and several singles, not to mention their numerous compilation appearances. Included on the Died In Custody collection is their long out of print "Endless Struggle" album and 2 song 7" recorded for the now defunkt Rabid Cat label. There's also a 1983 demo that pre dates their "We Must Rebel" LP, several early live tracks from Raul's in 1980, as well as part of an interview conducted by Tim Yohannan for the Maximum Rock n Roll Radio show. There is a full discography for The Offenders on the superb Kill From The Heart site. The files are in 192kbps mp3 format and there is a lyric sheet included with the download.

Here's the first album from The Offenders (I'll post up the other one tomorrow). Hailing from Austin, Texas they are one of the most under appreciated hardcore bands from the early 80s. Mikey (R.I.P.) went on to play bass on the first MDC album and after that, Sister Double Happiness. If you're a fan of 80s US hardcore then this is a must have :) There is a full discography for The Offenders on the superb Kill From The Heart site. The files are in 192kbps mp3 format and there is a lyric sheet included with the download.

This drum & bass mix was put together by an old friend and frequent DJ partner of mine. This is coming straight from the warmer shores of Cyprus where Oria now lives (lucky bastard ;) As well as bringing you the latest drum & bass and liquid funk mixes Oria also helps with www.breakbeatcyprus.com. This site was launched in February 2010 with the sole aim of promoting what, in Cyprus at least, can be simply termed as 'alternative electronic dance music' such as Drum & Bass, 'Breaks', Dubstep and Trip-Hop.
Here's what Oria had to say about the Totem mix...
I put this 1hr selection together to round off the year after having a bit of a DnB lull since the summer. Most of these vinyl releases I picked up in September/November 2010 so it's mostly quite recent stuff and then straight forward mixing on my trusty Technics 1210s. I quite like the flow on this mix and maybe even less wobbles than previous efforts ;) Anyway music talks for itself so enjoy and please share any comments with me if you listened :)
I got a request for this album so here it is. Derek and Clive is a double act of comedic characters created by Dudley Moore (Derek) and Peter Cook (Clive) in the 1970s. The characters are supposedly two lavatory attendants and are appallingly foul-mouthed extensions of their earlier characters Pete and Dud. Pretty much every 'sketch' is highly offensive and usually consist of the drunken pair swearing at each other. If words like fuck and shit offend you or you can't cope with what is pretty low-brow comedy then you're not going to like this so you have been warned. Derek and Clive Live was their first album which was released in 1976. You can get their second album, Come Again on this blog by clicking here. They also released a third album which you can get from somewhere else ;)
I chose today for this post as it would've been my best mate's birthday (45th I think) and Derek & Clive is a quite appropriate choice really. So tonight I'll be raising a glass or seven to the memory of Eric Equality. Cheers dood, it was a pleasure. In fact if you're feeling generous why not make a donation by choosing one (or all) of his favourite charities below.

Well I hope you had a nice christmas and new year and let's start off 2011 with a big ol' reggae mix. This one is from DJ Switch and was recorded in November 2010. It has a mixture of old and new stuff from people like Lee 'Scratch' Perry, The Clash and Barrington Levy. It's mainly reggae but there's also a little bit of ska, dub and dubstep thrown in for good measure. The download is all in one big 320kbps mp3 file. I haven't got the tracklisting but it starts with Bankrobber by The Clash, then a bit of Aswad and continues on from there :)
Here's a 2 disc DJ mix that should help with your new year's eve celebrations. The first disc is my latest drum & bass / soundclash mix with a selection of my new tunes. The second disc has a few different genres starting with 20ish minutes of cutting and scratching over some classic hip hop and electro beats. It then shifts into some breakbeat and classic drum & bass before finishing up with some more turntablism over a few laid back Ninja Tunes. Disc 2 wasn't done as a 'live' set as I spliced together the different sections using Audacity (though each section is a live mix but I don't suppose you care really :).

This download is a collection of studio soundboard outtakes and demos by Pink Floyd from 1971 & 1972. That was from around the Dark Side Of The Moon and Meddle eras. Like the other Pink Floyd post I made yesterday there are different versions of some of their well known songs. I've must've heard Money about a million times but the acoustic version on this download is a nice little change. Anyway enough of my waffle, just go get it and enjoy :)
Here's the tracklisting (320kbps)... 01) On The Run (Outtake) Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, November 1972 02) Time (Demo) Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, June 1972 03) Money (Acoustic Demo) Recorded in 1971 04) Us & Them (Demo) Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, June 1972 05) Brain Damage / Eclipse (Demo) Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, June 1972 06) Brain Damage (Outtake Part 1) 07) Brain Damage (Outtake Part 2) Recorded at Abbey Road Studios, London, November 1972 08) One Of These Days (Demo #1) 09) One Of These Days (Demo #2) Recorded in 1971
This is a live show from Pink Floyd that was recorded on the 17th of February 1972. It's basically a live version of Dark Side Of The Moon from before the studio album was released. The good thing about this show is that the tracks are completely different from the ones that are on the studio album so it's refreshing to hear these other arrangements. There are also a couple of bonus tracks at the end of the download which were taken from a 1970 session for the BBC.
Here's the tracklisting (320kbps)...
01) Speak To Me/Breathe
02) On The Run
03) Time
04) Breathe (Reprise)
05) The Great Gig In The Sky
06) Money
07) Us And Them
08) Any Colour You Like
09) Brain Damage
10) Eclipse
Here's another selection from Gong. The band were originally formed in 1967, after Daevid Allen - then a member of Soft Machine - was denied entry to the United Kingdom due to a visa complication. Allen remained in France where he and a London-born Sorbonne professor, Gilli Smyth, established the first incarnation of the band.
This collection is taken from various live shows, rehearsals, out-takes and interviews from when the band first got together up until 1988. There is some really obscure stuff here and some of the recordings aren't perfect but if you're a fan of the band then this is definitely worth hearing. There's a few tracks on here that I've never seen on any other of their albums... though they've released so many I don't know for sure. The download actually runs for just over 80 minutes so if you want to burn a copy you'll need to leave a bit out (don't worry, I'm sure you'll find something ;). Anyway enough of my ramble, just go get it.
Time to chill things out a bit so here's a mix of some ambient music I did a little while back. It runs for just under 80 minutes and contains very few actual beats so it's pretty chilled. There's a number of different artists included though there's quite a few tracks from the Aphex Twin, but that's only because he's a favourite of mine (now there's a shocker ;)
You won't be playing this in the middle of a party but come six in the morning when the drugs are wearing off and Captain Comedown is gibbering in your ear then let this mix take you gently into unconsciousness. For me this is a nice little journey down memory lane to all the chill out rooms when the 'rave' era was in full flow :)
