Crass - Merry Crassmas

Christmas greetings to you all :) and in the spirit of the season here's the wonderful Christmas single from that jolly bunch of lads (& ladies) Crass. The Merry Crassmas single was originally released in 1981 and features two sides of jolly yuletide hits. Perfect for a family Christmas.

Rather than having a turkey on your table this Christmas why not try something different. You can get yourself some good vegan recipes from the Old Punks Never Die site.

Or check out the following...

Note: If the above links don't work try the following from Rapidshare...

  1. My gods, thirty years have now passed since I bought this single at the tender age of 12 or 13..blink and you miss it! Luckily by the time this had come out I had already been vegetarianised by the release of Flux's Neu Smell EP! I do remember about a month of my folks putting meat on my plate and me leaving it each time and at school I think I would have had an easier time revealing I was an alien than a veggie..ahh the joys of northern pit town education at the beginning of the eighties...

Anyway, enough of my old git rambling, it is just funny how a glance at a cover can trigger a whole cascade of memories..

Many thanks for sharing these releases in such good quality, there is nothing inherently "punk" about 128kbps ;)

  2. I know what you mean about people's views of vegetarianism in the eighties. I once went round for lunch at my girlfriends house and sitting on my plate was this hunk of pork pie. When I told her I was vegetarian she smiled and said "I know, that's why it's only a little piece" ;) There was nothing malicious in it, just a lack of understanding :)

  3. And as your festive post from two years ago now wings its way to Indonesian punks just pulled out of a gig in Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia and forcibly shaved by the morality police, you'll find, in thanks to you and in solidarity with them, a mini-megapost of rare Crass in the comments section of the post below:

The post and the comments don't seem to fit together but I think both are great! Cheers, Dave Sez.

  4. PS: the Crass mini-megapost and my own Crassmas compilation may also be going up at edo's soon:

    Cheers, Dave Sez.

  5. heheheh stop it Dave, I must owe you a night out drinking by now ;) (thanks again... again... again :)

btw. speaking of the Aceh injustice the good people at Aborted Society records are asking people to put together a mixtape in solidarity with the Indonesian punks. Check out...
