Crass - Merry Crassmas

Christmas greetings to you all :) and in the spirit of the season here's the wonderful Christmas single from that jolly bunch of lads (& ladies) Crass. The Merry Crassmas single was originally released in 1981 and features two sides of jolly yuletide hits. Perfect for a family Christmas.

  1. My gods, thirty years have now passed since I bought this single at the tender age of 12 or 13..blink and you miss it! Luckily by the time this had come out I had already been vegetarianised by the release of Flux's Neu Smell EP! I do remember about a month of my folks putting meat on my plate and me leaving it each time and at school I think I would have had an easier time revealing I was an alien than a veggie..ahh the joys of northern pit town education at the beginning of the eighties...

Anyway, enough of my old git rambling, it is just funny how a glance at a cover can trigger a whole cascade of memories..

Many thanks for sharing these releases in such good quality, there is nothing inherently "punk" about 128kbps ;)

  2. I know what you mean about people's views of vegetarianism in the eighties. I once went round for lunch at my girlfriends house and sitting on my plate was this hunk of pork pie. When I told her I was vegetarian she smiled and said "I know, that's why it's only a little piece" ;) There was nothing malicious in it, just a lack of understanding :)

  3. And as your festive post from two years ago now wings its way to Indonesian punks just pulled out of a gig in Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia and forcibly shaved by the morality police, you'll find, in thanks to you and in solidarity with them, a mini-megapost of rare Crass in the comments section of the post below:

The post and the comments don't seem to fit together but I think both are great! Cheers, Dave Sez.
